Certified Personnel Consultant (CPC)
Certified Personnel Consultants (CPC), and those who aspire to that designation, represent
the individuals who set the tone for a profession by striving for excellence, and by being
guided, certainly, by business sense and legal principles, but more importantly, by a
recognition that true success only comes to one who conducts himself in accordance with
the highest ethical principles and standards.
The NAPS certification trains a recruiter to be knowledgeable about the federal laws
affecting the staffing industry and the work of professional personnel consultants in
the United States — knowledge of which is essential for those engaged in this important
work. The CPC examination addresses legal information relevant to practice of staffing
industry firms and the professional personnel consultants that function within those firms.
The examination also addresses the NAPS professional and ethical standards and the
certification program rules.
Those obtaining this credential will learn about the myriad of laws and regulations which
will affect them in their profession. Those who have not yet obtained this credential, we
are hoping that through this course-work, one might find this to be a readable and useful
guide in their day to day activities. Most importantly, perhaps, we hope that the presentation
and discussion of the legal issues facing personnel consultants will inspire those who have
not yet obtained the designation to seek to learn more about why so many of their peers have
determined that the symbol of the professional excellence represented by the Certified
Personnel Consultant designation is so worthwhile to strive for and attain.
Credentialing Eligibility
In recent months, the NAPS has made many changes to the certification eligibility
requirements. It is the intent of the NAPS to first educate individuals in this
profession so that they may best serve their customers, whether that customer is
the client company hiring official, candidate, or even fellow recruiters. The CPC
examination is available at any time. However, it is strongly suggested that the
individual first obtain the study materials and become familiar with the content.
Individuals seeking NAPS certification must first meet certain certification
eligibility requirements:
- CPC candidates should be experienced in direct hire placements. Position experience
includes: owner, partner, manager, recruiter, placement consultant within a private
firm; or corporate human resources or employee relations professional within a large
corporation.
- Candidates must agree to uphold the National Association of Personnel Services
(NAPS) Standards of Ethical Practices and certification program rules.
