About NAPS : Awards and Honors
The National Association of Personnel Services has developed three specific areas to honor and
recognize those individuals who have given back to our industry and profession. It is important
to note that these awards are not given out annual, but only when deserved. To learn more about
these three areas of recognition, please see below:
The Shero and Hero Award
This award is given to people within the Recruiting and Staffing Profession
that raise the bar for others. This award is designed to recognize those
individuals for their innovative ideas, outstanding achievements, and
success.
Each of these winners have:
• Offered Creative and innovative approach to business.
• Had a Positive impact on their Clients, Candidates and
Employees.
• Enjoyed Outstanding Achievements and the impact of those
achievements on the Staffing and Recruiting Profession.
• Had a High Level of success
• Were involved in Philanthropic Endeavors
• Have always been an Inspiration to Others
Norbert I.B. Fried Ethics Award
Objectives
To recognize those individuals who have made a significant, positive, and lasting impact on the ethics
of the staffing industry.
Award Criteria
1. Individuals may be eligible for this award regardless of tenure in the staffing industry or
tenure of service to the staffing industry.
2. Individuals may be eligible for this award trough their contribution(s) on a local, regional,
or national basis as long as the lasting positive impact was obvious across the entire staffing
industry with regard to ethics.
3. Individuals may be eligible for this award if it can be established that through their ethical
practices, they have made a significant (staffing industry wide), positive (of great value), and
lasting (withstanding the test of time) impact (change or impression) on the staffing industry.
This may be established by measuring their contribution(s) in ANY or ALL of the following:
A. Through their work within local, state, regional, or national associations have contributed in
a major fashion to the betterment of the entire staffing industry.
B. Through their diligent efforts, an individual who has brought to the staffing industry a product
or service of such significance and value that it created a positive change in the manner in which
the staffing industry conducts its business.
C. At a specific time and place an individual who made a timely, lasting and significant contribution
to the overall welfare of the staffing industry.
D. An individual who, when confronted with potentially overwhelming opposition, took a courageous
stand (individually or as part of a group) and by so doing, created a result that stemmed the
threat while safeguarding the existence, integrity, and future of the staffing industry.
Harold B. Nelson Memorial Award
Objectives
To provide a meaningful and significant individual honor, by the National Association of Personnel
Services, to that person/persons who has most distinguished himself/herself in the course of a lifetime
of service to the private placement industry, or as a result of a specific action in a given year.
When, in the opinion of the Committee, no one nominee fulfills the purpose of the award, it may not be
granted for that specific year.
Criteria for the Award
The Harold B. Nelson Memorial Award Committee, with the approval of the Board of Directors, has set
down the following as its criteria for choosing an appropriate nominee (criteria are not in priority order):
1. Leadership and activity in the National Association of Personnel Services.
All information available on nominee, such as offices held, committees chaired programs initiated,
awards received, and particular dedication to the principles and objectives of the National Association
of Personnel Services.
2. Initiation of new concepts, approaches, and ideas which have helped in the growth and advancement
of the personnel services industry.
All State, Regional and Local Association activities to which the nominee has contributed and in which
he/she has participated. Offices held members accounted for, committees chaired and served, programs
initiated, and successes achieved.
3. Particular dedication toward the advancement of free enterprise.
Specific achievement in or outside the realm of the profession. (For example, civic commissions or
awards, business and/or professional contributions or awards, religious and political achievement of
great significance.)
Hall of Fame Award
Objectives
To recognize those individuals who have made a significant, positive, and lasting impact on the
staffing industry.
Award Criteria
1. Individuals may be eligible for this award regardless of tenure in the staffing industry or
tenure of service to the staffing industry.
2. Individuals may be eligible for this award trough their contribution(s) on a local, regional,
or national basis as long as the lasting positive impact was obvious across the entire staffing
industry.
3. Individuals may be eligible for this award if it can be established that through their ethical
practices, they have made a significant (staffing industry wide), positive (of great value), and
lasting (withstanding the test of time) impact (change or impression) on the staffing industry.
This may be established by measuring their contribution(s) in ANY or ALL of the following:
A. Entrepreneurship – pioneered the way for others to follow whether it be through their visionary
efforts, innovative practices, leadership skills, novelty of process, execution of function, or as a
gateway of opportunity for others.
B. Through their business success have inspired others to higher levels of achievement, both
qualitatively and quantitatively, thereby establishing new standards for the staffing industry.
C. Through their activities have added significantly to customer value, whether those customers
were client companies, candidates, temporaries, contractors, or companies and professionals within
the staffing industry.
D. Through their work within local, state, regional, or national associations have contributed in
a major fashion to the betterment of the entire staffing industry.
E. Through their diligent efforts, an individual who has brought to the staffing industry a product
or service of such significance and value that it created a positive change in the manner in which
the staffing industry conducts its business.
F. At a specific time and place an individual who made a timely, lasting and significant contribution
to the overall welfare of the staffing industry.
G. An individual who, when confronted with potentially overwhelming opposition, took a courageous
stand (individually or as part of a group) and by so doing, created a result that stemmed the threat
while safeguarding the existence, integrity, and future of the staffing industry.
